MCPM Architecture
Gain controls — independent for all 8 channels — range from +12dB to –108dB. Gain can be spec-
ified during configuration and changed during operation. Whether to invert a signal is a simple con-
figuration option.
The over/main mixing ratio
The over/main ratio is a perceptual mix and differs from the normal mixing method:
(The program/preset audio mixer behaves according to the “normal” model.)
Meters and Monitors Section
The audio meter and monitor section presents signals on DB25 connectors. Figure 4-11 shows the
organization of the audio metering and monitoring section. (Note that not all MCPMs provide ana-
log audio output.)

The meter and monitor section receives program and preset inputs from each of the 8 channel pro-
cessors. It also receives 8 aux and 8 off-air inputs from the audio crosspoint.
The metering multiplexer delivers either program, preset, aux, or “off air,” to the metering output
connectors. It does not recombine program, preset, aux, or “off air” in any way.
The 16×4 monitor crosspoint allows you to recombine program, preset, aux, and off-air — in AES
pairs — on the monitor outputs. There are two monitor “buses” named A and B (both evident on
control panels). During configuration you can distribute buses A and B on the monitor outputs in 4
ways. (If you reverse A and B, you get an additional 4 ways.) Monitor A might, for example, play
program audio and monitor B might play preset audio.
