2. Introduction
Aspects of the System
Two additional configuration tools are available. Both are browser applications resident in hard-
ware from DNF controls:
• The Master Control Tally Processor.
• The Master Control Device Controller.
Intuition XG configuration tools and creative tools are available. Among these are Xplay, Xbuilder,
Xstudio, and XG dashboard.
Ancillary Hardware
Refer to Chapter 7,
Other MC Products
, on page 145, for more detail.
EBCP
All MCPMs have emergency bypass capability. Under certain conditions (e.g., malfunction, power-
up, external switch) an MCPM enters bypass mode with this effect: emergency bypass inputs are
switched to program output. When the MCPM leaves bypass mode, normal output resumes.
The emergency bypass control panel (EBCP) is a simple one: it is a 1RU panel that has two large
button switches. One says “Main” and the other says “Bypass.” Pressing the red “Bypass” button
places an MCPM in bypass mode. Pressing the green “Main” button enables normal mode. (The
panel controls only the MCPM to which it is connected.)
The green button lights when the MCPM is in normal mode. The red button lights when the MCPM
is in bypass mode. Because the buttons are large, the MCPM state is obvious from a distance. The
bypass button functions as a “kill switch.” Because it is large, it is easy to find and press quickly.
(A bypass switch and bypass LED are situated at the front of each MCPM, but they are enclosed in
the frame and might not be readily accessible.)
TLA
The transition lever arm (TLA) is an extension of a hardware control panel that allows an operator
to perform manual transitions by moving a lever from one extent to the other. The operator can vary
the speed, duration, and direction of the transition at will.
Tally Processor
Miranda offers a third-party “tally processor”—
a 1RU device that provides 32 optically isolated
inputs and 32 relay outputs, also optically isolated. Through Miranda’s NVISION Ethernet protocol
(NVEP), the tally processor can sense master control events such as main source selections and
transitions and trigger master control events.
Multiple tally processors can be added to a master control network.
The manufacturer (DNF Controls) provides a configuration utility program that operates as a
browser application.
S
The tally processor is treated as if it were a control panel and the presence of one or more tally
processors limits the number of actual control that can control a single MCPM or MCE. (An
MCPM or MCE can communicate with a maximum of 4 panels.)
