6. Control Panels
CFCP
Functional Sections of the CFCP
Following are brief descriptions of each section. Refer to Figure 6-4 on page 115.
1 Customer-programmable buttons
The customer-programmable section includes 16 function buttons. Each may be programmed to
perform functions such as channel selection, GPIO, or transition control.
Because the CFCP has fewer physical buttons than the FFCP, it has these extra functions:
• Bank select. Choose bank 1 or bank 2 of the main sources.
• Dim A, Dim B. Mute the output level of monitor A or B.
2 Touchscreen menu
Using the color LCD touchscreen, you can access all secondary system functions such as key
setups, squeezeback presets and audio settings. Associated with the touchscreen are 4 rotary
knobs for selection and adjustment of parameters.
3 Audio monitor controls
The audio monitoring section (of an MCPM) provides 2 independent audio monitoring buses
and a bus for audio metering. The panel has two monitor level knobs.
There are no dedicated panel buttons for these buses. An operator uses the menu to choose
which source to monitor or meter: program audio, preset audio, aux, or “off-air” audio. A
“Dim” function for monitor A and for monitor B can be configured as customer-programmable
buttons.
4 Audio output control
The audio output section includes 3 rotary knobs for adjusting the output level of the source
selected on preset or program, and the over/main ratio for preset or program.
5 Program / preset buttons
The program bus corresponds to what is on program output at present. The preset bus allows
you to premix a source with video effects and audio overs in preparation for a transition to the
program bus.
The program and preset “buses” include two rows of 16 buttons used for audio and video
source selections, video effects, and audio overs. Each button is dynamically “re-legendable.”
The purpose of each of the 16 button pairs is configurable.
The leftmost 8 buttons are main source buttons. Using a bank select button and 2 banks, A and
B, you can have up to 16 “virtual” buttons.
The rightmost 8 buttons can be configured as main sources, video effects, or audio overs. Main
sources, video effects (and audio overs) can be assigned to the buttons in any order and in
almost any combination. (Video effects cannot be duplicated.)
S
It is the MCPM that performs the effects and overs, and the order in which it applies them
does not change.
Up to 6 buttons are for video effects: 3 keyers, 2 logos, and a squeezeback function. The panel
can have up to 2 audio “over” buttons.
S
Some MCPMs do not support all video effects.
6 Breakaway buttons.
Two buttons at the left allow operators to perform video breakaway or audio breakaway.
