None of the control panels do any significant amount of processing; it is the MCPM (or MCE) that
performs almost all master control processing. A control panel bears the same relationship to an
MCPM or MCE as a keyboard and monitor have to a PC. A panel sends commands to an MCPM or
MCE (over Ethernet) and receives and displays status from the MCPM or MCE.
Features for the MCPM or MCE
Many of the buttons and knobs on the surface of a control panel match the functions in an MCPM
or MCE. For instance, the rows of preset and program buttons match the preset and program buses
of the MCPM. Certain panels have preview and aux buttons that match the preview and aux buses
of the MCE. The button legends of these rows are the source names, the video effect names, and the
audio over names defined for the currently selected MCPM or MCE.
The audio sections of a control panel match the audio features of an MCPM or MCE. The transition
rates are defined in the MCPM or MCE and the transition types are those supported by the MCPM
or MCE. The currently selected transition type and transition rate are those of the MCPM or MCE.
The behavior of video effects and audio overs are defined in the MCPM or MCE configuration.
Refer to Chapter 4,
MCPMs
, on page 41, for information MCPMs and to Chapter 5,
MCEs
, on
page 79, for information about the MCEs. MCPM features apply generally also to MCEs.
1. There are two models: the CECP and the CECP M1, both discussed in the
CECP Operator’s Guide
.
