6. Control Panels
FFCP
Some groups of buttons operate as a mutually exclusive set. Pressing a deselected button will cause
it to become selected and all other buttons in the set to become deselected. There are two types of
mutually exclusive buttons:
1 Pressing a selected button makes it deselected. (All other buttons in the set remain deselected.)
2 Pressing a selected button leaves the button selected.
The FFCP has a menu system built into its LCD touchscreen. It is through the menu that you can
adjust operating parameters such as audio levels and keyer settings. If an MCPM configuration per-
mits, the operator may not only select keyer settings, but modify them.
The FFCP’s “Transition” button (orange) is large and obvious.
S
The FFCP does not have an aux button row or a preview button row.
FFCP Knobs
Turning a knob clockwise increases the associated value until the maximum value is reached. Turn-
ing the knob counter-clockwise decreases the associated value until the minimum value is reached.
After you reach either extremity, turning the knob has no effect.
Functional Sections of the FFCP
Following are brief descriptions of each section. Refer to Figure 6-1.
1 Customer-programmable buttons
The customer-programmable section includes 16 function buttons, each of which may be pro-
grammed to perform functions such as channel selection, GPI triggers, or transition control.
2 Touchscreen menu
Using the color LCD touchscreen, you can access all secondary system functions such as key
setups, squeezeback presets and audio settings. Associated with the touchscreen are 4 rotary
knobs for selection and adjustment of parameters.
3 Audio monitor control
The audio monitoring section (of an MCPM) provides 2 independent audio monitoring buses
and a bus for audio metering. Panel buttons include a choice of 4 sources
—
program audio, pre-
set audio, aux, or “off-air” audio
—
and a dedicated “dim” button for each bus, and independent
monitor level controls knobs.
4 Audio level control
The audio level section includes 3 rotary knobs for adjusting the output level of the source
selected on preset or program, and the over/main ratio for preset or program.
5 Program / preset buttons
The program and preset “buses” include two rows of 16 buttons used for audio and video
source selections and two rows of 8 “layer” buttons that select video effects and audio overs.
Each button is dynamically “re-legendable.”
The program bus corresponds to what is on program output at present. The preset bus allows
you to premix a source with video effects and audio overs in preparation for a transition to the
program bus.
6 Breakaway buttons.
Two buttons at the left allow operators to perform video breakaway or audio breakaway.
