6. Control Panels
CFCP
7 System buttons.
The system buttons include 3 buttons: ‘Panel Lock’, ‘Automation Off’, and master ‘Fade to
Black’ by default. The configurer can redefine them.
CFCP
The CFCP is a console-mounted or rack-mounted master control panel. It can simply rest on a
desktop or flat surface, or it can be recessed into the desktop. It is 19
″
wide and about 15
″
deep. See
Cutouts
on page 190.
The entire top panel swings open for service. (You can access certain DIP switches and the rack-
mounting rails.)
Arrayed on the front of the panel are 48 color-coded LCD buttons, a touchscreen LCD with 4 asso-
ciated control knobs, 27 white toggle buttons, and 5 audio knobs (a.k.a. rotary encoders). Each
LCD button shows 2 lines of text, 4 characters per line. The LCD buttons are either “green,”
“amber,” or “red,”
—
off, low-tally, or high-tally. Red generally indicates an error condition.
Figure 6 -4. CFCP (front view)
Unlike the FFCP, the CFCP has 16 program/preset button pairs, not 24. However, both the program
bus and the preset bus are configurable. The rightmost 8 button pairs can be configured as main
sources, video effects, or audio overs. All 16 button pairs could be main sources. Up to 6 button
pairs can be video effects. Up to 2 buttons can be audio overs.
With a “bank select” button in the customer-programmable button section, the operator can switch
between two banks of main sources. The button mnemonics change when the sources are switched.
The bank selection button itself turns green or amber depending on which bank is selected.
The CFCP has 2 monitor knobs, but no monitor/meter buttons. (Monitor/meter functions can be
found in the touchscreen menu or the customer-programmable buttons.)
The CFCP has 1 system button; it is configurable.
