6. Control Panels
FFCP
The transition button changes color and legend when a pre-roll transition is pending (i.e, when
the preset bus has at least one pre-roll source.
• Intuition XG layer buttons and functions. MCEs can be connected to Intuition XG equipment
and configured for Intuition XG functions. The Intuition XG hardware and software provide
storage and execution of video keys (with fill and key signals).
All new panels can have two XG layer buttons among the preset and program buttons. (The
matching buttons on the preview bus are disabled.) Each XG layer button acts as if it is a keyer
button
—
and in fact uses an MCE keyer to mix the Intuition XG sources on the program bus.
When XG layer buttons is active, the corresponding keyer buttons become disabled.
The MCE processes the audio of an XG key as an audio over. XG layer buttons can be config-
ured to select the audio over automatically.
The new panels can also have an “XG Keyer Control” button that immediately hides an XG key
during a transition. It does not stop the transition.
The generation of, and management of, key sources in the Intuition XG subsystem is a big sub-
ject. Please refer to Miranda’s Intuition XG documentation.
• Live level display (integrated visual audio monitor). The CECP GUI does not support this.
However, the CECP and the FECP have a 16-channel audio monitor input and the CECP M1
has two such inputs. The audio monitor input(s) take 16-channel embedded audio from
any
source
and display the levels
—
in real time
—
on the panel’s LCD.
If the audio source for the live levels display is an audio monitor or meter output of the MCE
under control at the panel, the live level display shows that output and, as. you switch the
source to the monitor/meter from program to preset or preview, the live levels display will also
switch. If the audio for the live levels display is any other source, of course, you cannot do that.
• 16-channel audio support. MCEs have 16 audio channels (24-bit data).
All new panels can manipulate the 16 channels of MCEs as well as the 8 channels of other
MCPMs). Operators may adjust the gain and inversion of audio data, make changes to the inter-
nal audio crosspoint.
The new panels also support a small set of audio macros.
• Audio macro buttons. Up to 16 audio “macros”—
functions
—
execute predefined crosspoint
mappings and can change channel gain. Macros are defined in the MCS Panel Configuration
Editor. Refer to the MCS Panel Configuration Editor User’s Guide for information.
FFCP
The FFCP is a console-mounted master control panel. It can simply rest on a desktop or flat sur-
face, or it can be recessed into the desktop. It is 29
″
wide and about 15
″
deep. See
Cutouts
on
page 190.
The entire top panel swings open for service. (You can access certain DIP switches.)
Arrayed on the front of the panel are 48 color-coded LCD buttons, a touchscreen menu (LCD) with
4 associated control knobs, 27 white toggle buttons, and 5 audio knobs (a.k.a. rotary encoders).
