6. Control Panels
SCP
The program bus corresponds to what is on program output at present. The preset bus allows
you to set up a source with video effects and overs in preparation for a transition to the program
bus.
The program and preset “buses” include two rows of 16 buttons used for audio and video
source selections, video effects, and audio overs. Each button is dynamically “re-legendable.”
The purpose of each of the 16 button pairs is configurable.
The leftmost 8 buttons are fixed as main source buttons. Using a bank select button and 2
banks, A and B, you can have up to 16 “virtual” (source) buttons.
The rightmost 8 buttons can be configured as main sources, video effects, or audio overs. Main
sources, video effects, and audio overs can be assigned to the buttons in any order and in almost
any combination. (Video effects cannot be duplicated.)
S
It is the MCPM or MCE that performs the effects and overs, and the order in which it
applies them does not change.
Up to 6 buttons are for video effects: 3 keyers, 2 logos, and a squeezeback function. The panel
can have up to 2 audio “over” buttons.
S
Some MCPMs do not support all video effects.
2 Audio level knobs
There are 3 rotary knobs for adjusting the audio output level of the source selected on preset or
program, and the audio “over/main” ratio for either preset or program.
3 Menu buttons
The 8 menu buttons allow you to view the state of MPCM or MCE parameters and SCP param-
eters and to select operating parameters. The menu structure is hierarchical. There are two kinds
of submenus: system-defined and customer-defined.
The menu provides such functions such as channel selection, triggering GPI events, and panel
lock.
S
The menu buttons support functions that belong to the “customer-definable” buttons of
other control panels such as the FFCP, CFCP, and GUI.
S
It is in the menus that you set the transition type and transition rate. These functions are
assigned to discrete buttons on other control panels such as the FFCP, CFCP, and GUI.
S
The SCP menu function set include 10 machine control and pre-roll functions.
4 Scroll/select knob
The scroll/select knob allows you to scroll through lists of options, sources, and other items as
you make menu selections. The LED above the button lights when scrolling is enabled.
5 Monitor knobs
An MCPM or MCE has 2 audio monitor buses, A and B. The 2 monitor knobs of the SCP allow
you to increase or decrease the audio monitor levels. You can “dim” (attenuate) the monitor
level using an audio menu. When the monitor is dimmed, the LED above the monitor knob
lights.
(Menu functions exist for MCPM or MCE meter outputs, but there are no meter knobs.)
6 Transition button
The transition button displays the transition type (as a graphic) and the transition rate (in text).
‘Cut’ transitions involve no rate and therefore display no rate text.
