Squeeze (image 2) sources

The limits include all sources
—
local and external.
S
Router pre-select has no such limits.
• External router sources consume a number of frame ports.
These are the numbers for the source types:
Main sources
Minimum 2 video ports, optionally up to 8 audio ports, optionally 2
additional video ports. Those extra two video inputs exist to allow
breakaway for external main sources with embedded audio.
Key sources
Minimum 3 “fill” video ports. optionally 3 “key” video ports.
Squeeze background
No minimum; optionally 1 video port.
Squeeze image 2
No minimum; optionally 1 video port.
Over sources
Two video ports for embedded audio and up to 8 audio ports.
These ports are connected to router outputs. Those router outputs correspond to router destina-
tions defined in the configuration of the NV9000 system.
S
Each router pre-select main source consumes at least one video port and up to four
5
audio
ports. Each router pre-select over source consumes up to four2 audio ports.]
• External router sources are managed by the MCPM under control, assuming it has been config-
ured for external router sources. Under normal conditions, this management is
transparent
(internal and not detectable).
The MCPM has 2 port groups (A and B) for main sources and for over sources. It has 3 key
source port groups. The key port groups are labeled 1, 2, and 3.
A port group is always available for a source.
• It is possible to configure each MCPM in a frame with different external router source ports. If
you do so, you will quickly run out of ports. We recommend that you use the same external
router source ports for all MCPMs in a single frame.
Compared to Router Preselect
Compared with router pre-select, “external router sources” saves a few keystrokes (and time and
thought) while the operator selects external main and over sources, but also allows the selection of
external key sources and squeeze sources, which router pre-select does not allow.
The drawback is this: external source selection is limited to the small number of sources the MCPM
allows, not the entire space of the router system. The external router sources defined at configura-
tion do not necessarily reflect the sources present in the NV9000 at any given moment. With router
pre-select, the entire set of router sources
—
determined dynamically—
can be available to the mas-
ter control operator.
5. It is possible, but unlikely, for any local main or over source to cons ume 8 local audio ports.
