C. Misc. Information

NV9000 Integration

• The ability to execute router salvos (either automatically with a channel change or explicitly)

from the control panel.

The NV9000 router control system’s device names are formatted for display on control panel but-
tons according to NV9000 rules. Some editing of the NV9000 mnemonics within the NV9000 con-
figuration software might be needed to correct display problems on master control panels.

SNMP

Under control of the NV9000 system, MCPMs and MCEs can be monitored through SNMP. Master
control’s SNMP function is available through the NV5100MC SNMP license (EC9610). It requires
a NV9000 system with an EC9600 option. The NV9000 provides the SNMP agent. Refer to the

NV9000-SE Utilties User’s Guide

for more infomation.

Integrating Master Control Only

Generally, the following steps are required to link master control and the NV9000:

• Establish an Ethernet connection between the NV9000 system controller and the master control

frame.

One end of the connection is to the NV9000’s “master control network” port. The other is to the
master control network switch.

If you have no secondary server, you can disregard it and its connections in this diagram.

• Configure IP addresses for the NV9000 primary server and, if it is present, the redundant server.

In most cases, you will do this as the first step of installing master control software. You can
skip the step initially. Later, when you wish to specify the IP addresses, you must uninstall and
reinstall the software and specify the addresses in the new installation. It is not difficult and
does not take a long time.

Before reinstalling, make a copy of any master control configuration data you have already
created and wish to preserve. After the reinstallation, copy the configuration files in which
you are interested to the appropriate subfolder in the newly installed master control folder.

NV9000-SE Utilities User’s Guide

for details.
