6. Control Panels
CECP GUI
5 Preview button row.
The preview bus (in the MCE) and the preview button row (on the GUI) allow an operator to
view video sources in combination with video effects without affecting program or preset out-
put and therefore without interfering with automation.
The preview button row looks just like the preset and program button rows. Operating the pre-
view bus is the same as operating the preset bus. The preview bus output appears at ‘Preview
Output A’ of the PVW backplane. (Preview Output B is presently a copy of preview output A.)
S
The preview bus is active (enabled) only when the GUI is controlling an MCE.
6 Aux button row.
There are 2 aux buses in the MCE, bus A and bus B. Each has an output on the CORE back-
plane. Either one or both of these can be configured to output what is selected on the aux button
row of a control panel. These buses can be also configured for other functions
not
related to the
panel’s aux button row.
If the aux button row is not completely populated with main source buttons, some number of
“aux delegate” buttons can be configured at the rightmost end of the aux button row. (If you do
not have at least one aux delegate button, what happens when you press a main source on the
aux button row is difficult to determinate.)
S
The aux button row is active (enabled) only when the GUI is controlling an MCE.
S
The aux button row is not necessarily connected to the MCE’s aux bus.
The aux delegate buttons control what the aux button row does. There are 6 aux delegate types:
• Aux A bus.
The operator can direct any of the main sources available to the MCE’s Aux A bus.
(actually whichever aux bus was configured to receive a source when the operator presses
the Aux A delegate).
• Aux B bus.
The operator can direct any of the main sources available to the MCE’s Aux B bus.
(actually whichever aux bus was configured to receive a source when the operator presses
the Aux B delegate).
• Preset Squeeze Background.
The operator can select any of the main sources available as the preset squeeze background
image.
• Preset Squeeze Image 2
The operator can select any of the main sources available as the preset squeeze image 2.
• Preview Squeeze Background.
The operator can select any of the main sources available as the preview squeeze
background image.
• Preview Squeeze Image 2.
The operator can select any of the main sources available as the preview squeeze image 2.
In all cases, the operator selects the source on the aux button row.
S
If a squeeze image is configured with an “internal black” background or an internal black
image 2, the background or image 2 is fixed (constant) and cannot be a main source.
