A. Special Features

Intuition XG

At the bottom of the context menu is an ‘Add Command Channel’ entry. Clicking that entry pre-
sents another menu. Click ‘Custom’ to get the MCE add-ons list:

You may disregard the first entry which is ‘Custom command’. Choose any of the other commands.

Choosing a command creates a track. You can add commands at key frames in the time line. Cer-
tain commands take parameters. These are viewable in a drop-down menu at the right of the time-
line:

You might see some entries clipped off. Although it is not easy, it is possible to enter values in one
of the clipped text boxes.

If a track has multiple key frames, the MCE interpolates parameters between the points. Thus, for
example, you can vary the position, size, and opacity of a squeeze image over time.

The interpolation is not performed, or controlled, by Xstudio. Although it has interpolation options,
those options are not used for the add-on functions.

Important: Add-on effects placed in the first frame of the clip play out when the operator cues
the clip (on the program, or preset or preview bus).

Control Messages

The following items are the 18 control messages. The first 12 affect squeezeback, the next 5 affect
audio overs, and the last affects the main source.
The control messages are presented here as if they were functions in a programming language, that
is with parameters in parentheses separated by commas. In Xstudio, of course, the parameters
