7. Other MC Products

Transition Lever Arm

Transition Lever Arm 

The optional Transition Lever Arm (NV5128-MC-LVR) is a device with which operators can per-
form manually controlled transitions. It can be used with either the FFCP or the CFCP. 

The  TLA has a  simple  lever that swings between two limits.  There are  two limit indicators (LEDs). 
Each tells you when the lever is at the limit. The TLA also has an ‘Enable’ button. Pressing the 
enable button signals the start of a manual transition. The operator may start a transition at either 
extent.

Whereas a control panel’s ‘Transition’ button gives you precise and consistent transition periods, 
the TLA gives you intuitive control of a transition. The transition period can be as long  as you wish. 
Furthermore, the TLA offers two classes of transitions:

• Normal

Normal  transitions are those that can  be executed with the  ‘Transition’ button of  a control panel 
or through automation: cut, V-fade, X-Fade, cut-fade, and fade-cut.

During a normal transition using the TLA, the operator swings the lever from one extent to the 
other. Reaching the second extent completes the transition. 

The  position  of the lever  between limits  is  analogous  to (and controls) the mix of  Preset  and 
Program  as specified by  the transition  type in  effect. For example, in  a  cross-fade transition, 
when the lever is at the mid-point, the program/preset mix is 50/50.

• Preset Black. 

Preset black (PB) transitions require a TLA and cannot be performed by automation: PB cut, 
PB V-fade, PB cut-fade, and PB fade-cut.

PB cross-fades are undefined and therefore not supported.

During a PB transition, the operator swings the lever from one extent to the other and then back 
again to the first extent. The second extent defines the midpoint of the transition. Reaching the 
first extent after the second completes the transition.
