A. Special Features
Intuition XG
2 Double-click the channel A and B icons to launch the channels. It takes approximately 15 sec-
onds for their displays to appear. They appear in the same place on the screen. Move one aside
so you can see the other.
3 Double-click the Xplay icon to launch Xplay. It starts immediately.
If a master control panel is waiting for Intuition XG data, it can now obtain the data.
Behavior
XG Layers
Master control can process up to 4 XG layers. An XG layer corresponds to an XG media clip. XG
media clips are identified by “recall IDs.” XG media clips deliver video (with fill and key signals),
16 audio channels, and can control MCE squeeze effects, audio overs, and main sources.
Control panels have up to 4 s electable “XG keyer layer” buttons. Each one may be assigned any
available XG clip.
Channels A and B
Channel A in the Intuition XG processor always mixes with program. Channel B (if it exists in the
Intuition XG processor) always mixes with preset or preview (as configured in the MCE).
When the operator places an XG clip on preset (or preview), it is cued up in channel B and placed
in the output buffer on channel B, where it plays out on a preset (or preview) monitor. If channel B
is not present, you cannot view the XG key on the preset (or preview) monitor.
A moment after it loaded on channel B, the key is cued up on channel A also, but not played out.
Playout on channel A occurs during a transition.
When an operator presses the transition button, channel A starts playing at the appropriate moment
during the transition, mixing with the rest of program content.
Channel B will display any or all XG layers as an operator chooses them. After they play out, only
the persistent portion of the clip remains on preset (or preview).
Channel A will display all XG layers involved in a transition with their timing as designed.
S
It is possible to use Xplay to watch the channel A and B cue and output buffers load and switch
during transitions. Note that manual control of clips under Xplay is not recommended because
it would interfere with the MCE.
S
XG layers with higher numbers have visual priority over layers with lower numbers.
