Emergency Bypass Control Panel
States
The EBCP and the MCPM (or MCE) cycle between normal mode and bypass mode based on sev-
eral different inputs:
These are the inputs:
• Bypass switch on the front of the MCPM or MCE.
• Red button press
• Green button press
• MCPM (or MCE) reset button pressed or power to the MCPM (or MCE) cycled.
(Refer to Emergency Bypass on page 70 for more information.)
Connections
The EBCP connects to the auxiliary port of the MCPM or MCE and uses both of the GPI inputs to
control the emergency bypass relay.
To make the connection between the MCPM aux port and the EBCP connector requires a DE9 to
DB25 (or DB15) cable. Keep in mind that other aux functions, if used, will use the same cable con-
nector.

When the GPI inputs are used for emergency bypass, they cannot be used for another purpose.

Pressing a button activates either GPI1 or GPI2.
Those, in turn, under a certain software
configuration, cause the bypass relay to switch.
When the relay switches, it draws current
through one or the other of the LEDs.
The bypass relay can switch under other (e.g.,
emergency) conditions also.
The bypass relay is in the MCPM backplane and
connected through the MCPM’s Aux port. The
GPIs are in the MCPM. The switches are on the
EBCP.
