6. Unscrew the TaperTip PEEK coupler, and remove the TaperTip from
the union.
7. Unscrew the capillary PEEK coupler, and remove the fused-silica
capillary from the union.
8. Where appropriate, remove the protective PEEK sleeve from the
fused-silica capillary for reuse.
9. Dispose of the fused-silica capillary and TaperTip, observing local
environmental regulations.
10. Using the 1.5-mm Allen wrench, unscrew the union retaining screw and
remove the union.
11. Remove any remaining shards of glass or other contaminants by
cleaning the union as follows:
a. Use the wash bottle containing 1:1 methanol/water to rinse the
union over the large beaker.
b. Clear and blow dry the union with compressed gas.
Warning:
The fused-silica capillary can be contaminated
with biohazardous and/or toxic materials. Dispose of it
according to local environmental regulations.
