2.2.2 Initial setup steps
1. Verify that the electrical supply in the facility is sufficient to support
the power requirements of the imPULSE S.U.M. and ancillary
components, such as controllers or pumps. Connect the electrical
power cord to the facility electrical power supply.
2. Install proper regulators to ensure that the air pressure does not
exceed maximum values (See specifications in Tables 8.1—8.8).
3. If your unit has a water jacket, connect the inlet and outlet lines
from the temperature control unit (TCU) to the S.U.M. water jacket
ports. The inlet is typically on the left side when you are facing the
connectors. We recommend adding insulation to any exposed inlet
and outlet jacket fittings.
Notes:
• Refer to the TCU manufacturer’s guidelines for detailed TCU
setup and operating instructions.
• Figure 2.11 shows TCU connections on a standard HyPerforma
S.U.M. The connections are the same for imPULSE systems
with the exception of push to connect fittings instead of
tri-clamp fittings.

and the TCU.
4. If you are using a third-party controller, locate the digital
communication port you will be using on the back of the
Touchscreen Console. Before connecting, verify that the proper
T-plug and terminator are in place. A kit containing these
components is available for order (see Chapter 8). You can also
connect a controller using the legacy port on the back of the
Touchscreen Console (seen in Figure 2.12).
