–
Disconnect the battery plug.
–
Open the battery latch(es) so that the bat-
tery does not catch on the latches when it
is lifted out. Trucks with a short wheelbase
have one battery latch, trucks with a long
wheelbase have two.
–
If the battery has open terminals or connec-
tors, these must be covered with a rubber
mat to prevent short circuits.
–
Adjust the length of the lifting gear so that
the hoist is directly above the battery centre
of gravity.
Removing the battery
WARNING
Danger due to falling load!
The load capacity of the lifting gear must be sufficient
for carrying the weight of the battery and the tray.
–
Read the maximum battery weight off the name-
plate of the industrial truck.
–
Use lifting gear with a load capacity corresponding
to the maximum battery weight.
–
Observe the operating instructions for the lifting
gear.
–
Attach the lifting gear to the four lifting eyes
of the battery tray (1). For transportation by
crane, only use appropriately sized lifting
gear with bridge piece (2) and ensure that
the lifting gear has a suitable load capacity.
–
Lift the battery until it is no longer in contact
with the industrial truck. Make sure the bat-
tery is hanging straight on the lifting gear.
The lifting gear must be vertical when lifting,
so that no lateral pressure is applied to the
tray.
CAUTION
Danger due to the high weight of the battery!
The ground must be capable of bearing the weight of
the battery.
–
Set the battery down carefully.
–
Remove the lifting gear after the battery has
been set down.
