The Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications system can participate in
the field bus communication. This way, for instance, it is possible to make
the occupied status of a terminal visible.
Bus participants are configured by means of a separate software, the ETS
tool. This software can be purchased from the KNX Association.
Note:
The Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications system does
not have to be configured via the ETS tool.
Actions
The bus participants carry out actions by sending (sensors) or executing
(actors) commands. The following action types can be configured on the
Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications system:
●
Switch
: With this action, the communications system serves as a switch.
This action can for instance be used to switch the light on or off by means
of an appropriate actor.
●
Switch with timeout
: With this action, the system serves as a switch that
returns to its initial position after a specified period of time (monoflop). It
can for instance be used to switch a staircase light or a door opener.
●
Flashing indicator
: This action can for instance be suitable for alarm
messages that are signalled using a flashing indicator.
You can set up any number of actions and assign these to the terminals and
applications of the communications system.
Group address
The group address enables a logical connection between the bus participants
(sensors and actors as well as single sensor / actor channels). Via the group
address, information is routed to the single bus participant channels and the
actions are bundled. Every action receives its own group address.
One group address consists of several number blocks, separated by slashes:
●
1/0 for a two-part group address (main group/subgroup)
●
1/0/1 for a three-part group address (main group/medium group/
subgroup)
With this notation, the functions can be organised systematically, e. g. main
group = floor, medium group = class“lighting”, sub group = functions.
