DECT Areas: SARI same, PARI different
On a DECT network with multiple DECT areas, the DECT base stations
transmit 2 different PARK codes alternately:
●
PARI (“Primary Access Right Identity”): This code identifies the DECT area.
All DECT base stations in a DECT area transmit the same PARI. This code is
displayed in the
PARK
column on the

rator.
●
SARI (“Secondary Access Right Identity”): This code identifies the entire
DECT network. All DECT base stations connected to the Forum 5004/
5008/5012 communications system transmit the same SARI. This code is
displayed in the Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications system

Via the SARI, a DECT terminal can recognise that the PARI of another DECT
area belongs to the same DECT network. If a DECT terminal leaves the
reception area of a DECT area, it can connect to a DECT base station from
another DECT area on the same DECT network using the SARI code.
The firmware of older Forum Base 500 type DECT base stations does not
support alternating transmission of SARI and PARI. This means that these
DECT base stations can only be operated on the gateway 01 (on the call
server). The gateway 01 – the first gateway entry on the

status page – always uses the SARI as PARI. The DECT base
stations of this DECT area thus only transmit one code.
Some older DECT terminals such as the basic GAP-compatible mobile
telephones do not support, or insufficiently support operation with SARI and
PARI codes necessary for DECT areas. In order to enable roaming between
