DECT Networks

The Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications system supports setting up 
a DECT network for operating cordless DECT terminals. There are 2 different 
DECT system technologies available for doing so.

U-DECT

This technology is for connecting Forum Base DECT v2 base stations (“RFPs”, 
Radio Fixed Parts) via DECT-capable U

pn

 Forum Gateway 560 ports. You 

require at least one Forum Gateway 560 which is equipped with a Forum 550 
Card 8 digital extensions module (see 

Forum 550 Card 8 digital extensions

). 

You can connect a number of DECT base stations to the U

pn

 interfaces of this 

module.

Note:

The firmware of older Forum Base 500 type DECT base 
stations does not support alternating transmission of SARI and 
PARI. This means that these DECT base stations can only be 
operated on the gateway 01 (on the call server). 

Setting up a DECT network using this technology is described in this chapter.

DECT over IP®

This technology is used to connect DECT base stations via network (TCP/IP) 
directly to the Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications system. You 
require a number of IP-capable DECT base stations.

Note:

You can operate both technologies at the same time with an 
Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications system. In this case, 
the IP-capable DECT base stations form a separate DECT area.
