The spring of the slide track device gives
the appropriate support in the rail and also
applies the necessary pressure between
transducer and pipe.
5.2.8 Positioning of the Transducers
You should have mounted the transducers now and taken into consideration the
transducer distance calculated and displayed by FLUXUS:
A:54 mm Reflec
Transd.Distance

Confirm the transducer distance by pressing

. With this, the procedure for the
positioning of the transducers has been
started.

A bar graph gives an indication of the quality
of the received signal.
Adjust the transducers so that a maximum is
being indicated on the bar graph display by
moving or turning the transducers slightly
:
Attention!
Moving/turning of the transducers will show the local signal maximum on the bar
graph display. It is important for the flow measurement that the signal maximum is
used with the shortest transducer distance (shortest transit time). However, the
signal maximum with the shortest transducer distance should not deviate from the
suggested distance by more than
±
0.5 cm. Bigger deviations would mean that
parameter inputs should be checked for correctness or that the measurement must
be repeated at a different location of the pipework.
Renew the film of acoustic coupling component
if necessary.
In practise, the ultrasonic beam does not always go straight through the pipe. This
depends on the symmetry of the pipe, the deposits on the inner pipewall, and the
reflection of the signals on the opposite inner pipewall. Under such circumstances, the
signal maximum could be achieved slightly moving the transducers or turning them
sidewards. Larger pipe diameters are especially affected.
Note:
If further measuring channels have been activated, e.g. measuring channel B,
FLUXUS would begin the procedure to position the transducers for this particular
channel. (Follow the sequence of this chapter 5.2.8 again accordingly.)
