the displays scroll around)
When a lining material has been selected, FLUXUS jumps straight to the display
for entering the liner thickness. If the list does not contain your lining material, the
set-up can be done as follows:

P6
Here, FLUXUS requests the entry of the
sound velocity for the lining material.
(Table 2 in chapter 17 gives an overview of the sound
velocities of some materials.)
Enter data for the
respective material within a range from 600 to
6553.5 m/s and confirm by pressing ENTER.
Next, the display for entering the
liner
thickness appears.
Liner Thickness
3.0 mm
P9
Enter the pipe lining thickness within the
range of the transducer characteristics.
(This parameter is pre-set to 3.0 mm.)
Attention!
FLUXUS checks the correlation between the entered outside diameter, the pipewall
and liner thickness. The data shall be within the liner thickness range for the
transducer used. Otherwise, an error message appears (see page 4-1).
4.2.5 Pipe Roughness
The roughness of the inner pipewall influences the flow profile of the liquid and is
used for the calculation of the profile correction factor. In most cases the pipe
roughness cannot be exactly determined, and so this parameter must be
estimated. For your convenience, we have compiled a list of roughness factors for
a number of materials, based on experience and respective measurements
(see
Chapter 17, Table 3)
. Accordingly, the display
'Roughness'
requests the input for a value
for the selected pipe or lining material:
0.4 mm
Roughness
P10
Change the suggested value according to the
condition of the inner pipewall.
(Table 3 in chapter 17 gives an overview of typical roughness
coefficients of pipe materials.)
