5.2.6 Cleaning of Outside Pipewall
Rust or other deposits absorb the sound signals!
Mount the transducers only on
clean pipewalls
!
Remove rust or loose paint in order to improve the acoustic
contact between the transducer and pipewall.
Apply some
acoustic coupling component
to the contact
surface of the transducers. Press the transducers firmly
onto the pipewall with the coupling film. There must not be
any
air or air pockets
between transducer surface and
pipewall.
5.2.7 Transducer Mounting
With chains
•
Fasten the transducers onto the pipe using the ball chains, taking
into account the suggested transducer mounting distance.
•
Guide the mounting fixture of the chain into the mating groove of
the transducer.
(The fixture spring and the chain locking hook will apply the necessary
mounting pressure between transducer and pipe.)
•
Add further chain parts if necessary to allow for bigger pipe
diameters.
•
Pay attention to the correct selection of the measuring point
(See
chapter 3)
.

Transducer
(The transducer cables show in the opposite direction of
each other.)
Mount the transducers so that the front edges
are opposite each other. The engravings on
the transducer top should form an arrow
together
