Heat Quantity Measurement
11.2 Instrument
The back of FLUXUS ADM with the HQM option features two additional sockets
for the temperature sensors PT100:

Note:
FLUXUS will signal at appropriate times if:
•
one of the two temperature sensors is not connected,
•
the temperature sensor for the inflow is not connected, and there is no entry of
the constant inflow temperature.
11.3 Extension of Program Branch MEASURING
The flow measurement with FLUXUS ADM is always performed at the
return flow
when heat quantity needs to be measured. In general, the pipe temperature at the
outlet, or return flow, is lower than at the inlet. This makes it easier to position the
transducers (and hopefully, you will not burn your body parts too often).
During measurement, FLUXUS corrects, according to the measured temperatures
T1 and T2, the temperature dependent medium parameters, e.g. density and
specific heat capacity*, in order to calculate the heat flow, and ultimately the heat
quantity. FLUXUS uses 8 medium dependent coefficients.
* The specific heat capacity is defined as energy necessary to increase the respective
medium temperature by 1 °C for a given mass of 1 kg medium.
By the HotCode method
(see also chapter 2.3.3),
the basic unit of measurement for the
heat quantity (totalisation count for the heat flow) can be cold-start resistant
defined. Choose between the SI-unit Joule [J] and Watt-hours [Wh].
The unit of measurement for the heat quantity, which is used when the totaliser is
activated
(see also chapter 5.3.3)
, is therefore a result of the selected unit for heat flow in
program branch OUTPUT OPTIONS in conjunction with the basic unit selected by
HotCode.
