Loading Through The Parallel or Serial Port
Loading Through The Parallel or Serial Port
1.
Using Windows Explorer, create a directory named
download
at the root
level of your C: hard drive (
C:\download
).
2.
Download the printer emulation and operating system software from
www.infoprint.com (choose Support & Maintain, then Online Hardware
and Software Support) into the directory you created in step 1.
3.
Make a configuration printout of all saved configurations. (Refer to the
User’s Manual.)
4.
Set the printer power switch to O (Off).
5.
Disconnect the data (signal) cable(s) from the printer interface
connectors.
6.
Connect a parallel data printer cable to the LPT1 port or a serial data
printer cable to the COM1 port of an IBM-compatible computer running
the Windows (95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP, Server 2003, or Vista) operating
system.
NOTE:
You can connect the cable to the LPT2 port if the LPT1 port is in use.
The load command is different if you use this port, so make sure you
use the LPT2 commands in step 12.
Software loads at 9600 baud if you load through the serial port with a
DOS command. This can take a long time. Software loads much
faster through the parallel port.
7.
Connect the data cable to the appropriate I/O port of the printer.
8.
On the printer control panel, press and hold down the
and
↓
keys.
Without releasing the keys, power the printer on. When you see
“B30: STATUS” on the on the LCD, release the keys.
9.
Wait until you see “PROGRAM DOWNLOAD” on the LCD before doing
the next step. This can take about a minute to appear, depending on the
emulations and interfaces installed in the printer.
10. Start a command prompt session. (The Start Menu icon is usually labeled
MS-DOS
®
Prompt
or
Command Prompt
.)
11. At the command prompt type:
C:
<Enter>
cd \download
<Enter>
12. To load the file through the
LPT1 parallel port
on the computer, type the
following at the command prompt on the computer:
filename
.exe -pb
<Enter>
where
filename
.exe is the file name you noted in step 2. This command
decompresses the file on the hard drive and copies it as a binary file into
the flash memory on the printer controller board.
To load the file through the
LPT2 parallel port
on the computer, enter the
following command:
filename
.exe -pb2
<Enter>
To load the file through the
serial port
, enter the following commands:
mode COM1:9600,N,8,1,P
<Enter>
filename
.exe -pbc1
<Enter>
..
