9.5.3 

Installing a Profiling Thermocouple in Vacuum Systems 

1.  Slide the profiling thermocouple into the tube case so that the centerlines of 

heating cassette and internal element align. Use the two stud screws to fix the 
position within the aluminum stop. 

2.  Clean the tube case and the O-rings in the feedthrough. 

3.  Slide the profiling thermocouple through the vacuum feedthrough into the process 

tube. 

4.  Manually tighten the milled nut of the vacuum feedthrough. 

5.  Connect the thermocouple connector to the measuring amplifier and close the 

cover. 

9.5.4 

Installing the Spike Thermocouple 

1.  Slide the spike thermocouples in the tube cases into the heating cassette until they 

touch the process tube. Three to five pairs of thermocouples are installed in the 
equipment depending on the number of heating zones.  

2.  Use spring clips to secure the spike thermocouples against sliding out. 

3.  Connect the first spike thermocouple to the temperature measuring module 

(TMM6). 

4.  Connect the second spike thermocouple used for temperature monitoring to the 

overtemperature sensor.

Connecting Gas System and Process Tube 

 

CAUTION! 

Adjust the soft landing system (SLS) first and then the heating cassette, before 
connecting the gas system. Changing the sequence can damage or even destroy the 
connections.

Installing the Synthesis Steam Generator (Option) 

The assembly of the synthesis steam generator is described in the operating 
instructions of the synthesis steam generator, see chapter 12.5 Information on the Gas 
System, page 12-2.
