SECTION 12 • INSTALLATION
GENERAL
BE1-951 Utility Multifunction Relays are delivered with an instruction manual and BESTCOMS software in
a sturdy carton to prevent shipping damage. Upon receipt of the relay, check the model and style number
against the requisition and packaging list for agreement. If there is evidence of shipping damage, file a claim
with the carrier and notify the Basler Electric Regional Sales Office, your Sales Representative, or a Sales
Representative at Basler Electric, Highland, Illinois.
If the BE1-951 is not installed immediately, store it in the original shipping package in a moisture and dust
free environment.
MOUNTING
Basler numeric relays are supplied in fully-drawout, S1 and H1 cases that can be mounted at any convenient
angle. The S1 case is normally panel mounted and has special mounting plates available for adapting to
existing cutouts. The H1 case can be adapted to a panel or rack for single or double case mounting.
Case Cutouts and Dimensions
S1 package dimensions are shown in Figure 12-1. Panel cutout dimensions for the S1 case are shown in
Figure 12-2. Two mounting adaptor plates are available for S1 cases. Adaptor plate 9 1085 51 021 is shown
in Figure 12-3 and allows an S1 relay to be installed in a General Electric S2 or Westinghouse FT-21 cutout.
Adaptor plate 9 1085 51 022 is shown in Figure 12-4 and allows an S1 relay to be installed in a
Westinghouse FT-32 opening.
H1 package dimensions are shown in Figure 12-5. Adapter bracket 9 2899 24 100 allows a single relay to
be mounted in a 19 inch rack, Figure 12-6. A second adapter bracket (9 2899 29 100) performs the same
function but includes a cutout for an ABB FT switch, Figure 12-7. Two escutcheon plates are available for
panel mounting. Part number 9 2899 00 017 is used for panel mounting a single relay. Escutcheon plate 9
2899 00 016 is used to panel mount two dovetailed relays. Mounting plate cutout and drilling dimensions
for a single H1 relay are shown in Figure 12-8. If a single H1 relay is to be panel mounted without an
escutcheon plate, the cutout and drilling dimensions of Figure 12-9 should be used. Mounting plate cutout
and drilling dimensions for two dovetailed H1 relays are shown in Figure 12-30. Figure 12-31 gives the
cutout and drilling dimensions for panel mounting two dovetailed cases without an escutcheon plate.
