SL-27P and SL-59P Command Examples
1.
Read the 27 phase logic settings.
>SL-27P
2,0
(These settings indicate that undervoltage on two or more phases is
required to initiate pickup and blocking isn’t used.)
2.
Program the 59P logic so that overvoltage on all three phases is required to initiate pickup. Block the
59 function when input 4 is closed (TRUE) or when virtual output 6 is TRUE.
>SL-59P=3,IN4+VO6
Operating Settings for Undervoltage and Overvoltage Elements
Operating settings for the 27P and 59P functions consist of pickup and time delay values. The pickup value
determines the level of voltage required for the element to start timing toward a trip. The time delay value
determines the length of time between pickup and trip. Time delays can be set in milliseconds, seconds, or
cycles. The default is milliseconds if no unit of measure is specified. A time setting of zero makes the
element instantaneous with no intentional time delay. Phase undervoltage settings are made using the
S<g>-27 command. Phase overvoltage settings are made using the S<g>-59P command. The unit of
measure for the pickup setting is secondary volts (PP or PN) and depends on the SG-VTP setting. For more
information, refer to Section 3,
Input and Output Functions, Voltage Inputs. Settings can also be viewed or
changed at the front panel HMI using screens 5.x.3.1 (phase undervoltage) and 5.x.7.1 (3 phase
overvoltage), where x equals 1 for setting group 0, 2 for setting group 1, 3 for setting group 2, and 4 for
setting group 3. Undervoltage and overvoltage operating settings are summarized in Table 4-21.

Time delays less than 10 cycles can be entered to the nearest 0.1 cycle from the front panel
HMI. All time delays can be entered to the nearest 0.01 cycle from the ASCII command interface.
Time delays entered in cycles are converted to milliseconds or seconds. Increment precision after
conversion is limited to that appropriate for each of those units of measure.
# Unit of measure is secondary VPP or secondary VPN depending on the VTP connection settings.
S<g>-27P and S<g>-59P Commands
Purpose:
Read or set protection settings for the phase undervoltage and overvoltage functions.
Syntax:
S<g>-27P or S<g>-59P[=<Pickup>,<Time Delay>]
Comments: g = setting group 0, 1, 2, or 3. Use # as a wildcard to read or change all groups. See Table 4-
21 for S<g>-27P and S<g>-59P settings information.
S<g>-27P and S<g>-59P Command Examples
1.
Set the group 0 phase undervoltage setting at 80 volts and the time delay at zero.
>S0-27P=80,0
2.
Set the phase overvoltage pickup at 135 volts and the time delay at 3 seconds for all setting groups.
>S#-59P=135,3s
