IOF-550 Permold Series Engine Maintenance Manual

rather than Overhaul Dimensional Limits in Appendix D of the Overhaul Manual for
inspection criteria.

Clean the piston (55) according to the “Piston Cleaning” instructions in Chapter 8
of the Overhaul Manual (OH-24).

CAUTION: Do not use automotive-type piston scrapers to clean
piston ring lands.

Perform Fluorescent Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Inspections as described in
Chapter 9, “Overhaul Inspection and Repair.”

Perform a dimensional inspection on the cylinder, the piston, and components as
directed in the section “Engine Cylinder Dimensional Inspection” in Chapter 9,
“Overhaul Inspection and Repair” using the Cylinder Service Limits in Section
10-8.5.

Figure 10-61 repeated for reference

NOTE: Identify the location from where the tappets were removed
Tappets must be re-installed (if acceptable) in the same location.
