SP600 Spectrophotometer 01/2008

1.1 Methods

Formaldehyde

with MERCK Spectroquant

Cell Test,

No. 1.14500.0001

0.1 – 5 mg/l HCHO

1. Place the supplied blank in the sample chamber making

sure that the marks are aligned.

2. Press

ZERO

key.

3. Remove the vial from the sample chamber.

4. Add

one level microspoon of HCHO-1K

into one

reaction tube.

5. Close the vial tightly with the cap and shake vigorously

until the reagent is completely dissolved.

6. Add

2 ml of water sample

(Note. 6).

7. Close the vial tightly with the cap.

Hold the vial by the cap and carefully invert several
times to mix the contents.

(CAUTION: Vial becomes hot!)

8. Press

[ ]

Wait for a

reaction period of 5 minutes

After reaction period is finished proceed as follows:

9. Place the vial in the sample chamber making sure that

the marks are aligned.

10. Press

TEST

The result is shown in the display in mg/l Form-
