Setting the Ethernet controller operation mode switch
When you want to change the Ethernet controller operation mode
from Normal to MAC Disabled, you must change the setting of
configuration switch 6.
Before you begin:
Read “Electrical safety” on page 70 and “Handling
static-sensitive devices” on page 71.
Turn off the server and all other connected devices.
Disconnect all external cables attached to the server; then,
remove the server cover (see “Preparing to add options” on
page 73).
1. Locate the configuration switches (also known as rocker
switches) on the system board. For more information, refer to
the label inside the server, or see “System Board Illustration” on
page 253.
2. To set the Ethernet controller operation mode to the appropriate
value, set switch 6 as shown in the following illustration. It
might be helpful to use the end of a small screwdriver to set the
switch.
Attention:
The following illustration is for reference only. Before you
change the settings for switch 6, be sure that you check the
orientation of your server system board to correctly identify the
switch number locations. If you change the settings for the
wrong switches, you might seriously damage server components
or options.
