Switchover to Remote Control
On power-on, the instrument is always in the manual operating state ("LOCAL" state) and can be oper-
ated via the front panel controls. For remote control, the desired interface (IEC/IEEE-bus or RS-232)
must be first selected and configured via the UTILity – REMOTE menu (see Section 2.5.8). Afterwards
the instrument is switched to remote control ("REMOTE" state):
when IEC/IEEE-bus is active
as soon as it receives an addressed command from a
controller.
when the RS-232 interface is active
as soon as it receives either a carriage return <CR>
(=0Dh) or a line feed <LF> (0Ah) from a controller.
The operation via the front panel is disabled. The instrument remains in the remote state until it is reset
to the manual state via the front panel or via IEC bus (see Sections 3.2.1.3 and 3.2.2.3, Return to Man-
ual Operation). Switching from manual operation to remote control resets the NRT automatically from
cyclic to external triggering. All other settings remain unaffected.

Setting the Device Address
The IEC/IEEE-bus address of the instrument is factory-set to 12. It can be changed manually in the
UTILity - REMOTE - IEC - IEC.ADDR menu or via IEC bus. Addresses 0 to 30 are permissible.

Indications during Remote Control
The active state of the remote control is indicated by the symbol REM on the display. The symbol LLO
indicates that the
SEL
LOCAL
key is disabled, i.e. switchover to manual operation is only possible via
IEC/IEEE bus. When LLO is not indicated, switchover to manual control is possible via the
SEL
LOCAL
key
(see also section 3.2.1.3, Return to Manual Operation).
