Basic Operating Functions

The NRT basic unit allows a variety of sensors to be adapted to diverse measurement tasks. A large
number of settings can be made to cover a wide range of applications.

To make operation as straightforward as possible, all these settings are menu-controlled via softkeys.
The main functions are however directly accessible via hotkeys.

The basic operating controls and philosophy are described in the following.

2.2.1 Front-Panel

Menu keys

The three menu keys activate the 
assiciated menus:

- "CONFig", meas. settings, 2.3 

- "CORRection", improved meas.

   settings, 2.4

- "UTILity", Miscellaneous, 2.5.

SEL(LOCAL) is an input key for the
menus. general structuring and 
operation of the menus is described
in Section 2.2.4.

Cursor keys

keys for switching within a selected menu (MENU keypad 2.2.4). The vertical
cursor keys are for scrolling through the indivual menu items up and down.
The horizontal cursors are for switching within the menu item. Cursor keys also
allow entry of numeric values (Section 2.2.4.2).
 

Function keys

The main measurement 
functions are directly 
accessible via function keys
(see Section 2.2.2).
