BATTERY CHARGE (Manual Control of Battery Charging)

The Ni-MH battery provided with the NRT can be charged automatically. Charging may also be started
and stopped by the user. Charging is automatically initialized whenever the instrument is connected to
the AC supply after at least three hours of battery operation. Charging is indicated by the display of dan-
ger arrow and battery symbol.

Charging can be started any time manually by selecting

Manual charging should be carried out whenever the NRT is to be operated without AC supply over a
longer period and there is no possibility of recharging the battery during this period. Charging can how-
ever be stopped prematurely by selecting 

OFF 

in the charge menu or by switching off the NRT via the

ON/STBY

 key.

Occasional charging of partly discharged batteries does not cause any damage. Fully charged batteries
should however not be recharged repeatedly as this may cause damage in the long run.

This menu is only available if Battery Option NRT-B3 is fitted.

BEEPER (Alarm Message, Acknowledge Signal)

The 

UTILity - BEEPER

 menu allows the tone generator to be configured in such a way that an acoustic

signal is output in the case of SWR overranging and when a key is pressed.

A SWR limit value and a power threshold are to be entered on the NRT (section 2.3.8.2 SWR.ALARM)
so that the SWR alarm can be output acoustically. Keystrokes are acknowledged by a single beep (valid
entry) or a double beep (invalid entry) if the beeper is configured accordingly.
