Automatic Measurement (AUTO)

For automatic measurement of the average burst power the video bandwidth 

(VID.BW)

 for the rectified

signal must be defined. The bandwidths available are sensor-dependent and are diplayed in plain text in
the menu as soon as the setting 

AV.BRST 

is confirmed in the calling menu. The bandwidths shown in

the figure below – 4 kHz, 200 kHz, and 

"FULL"

 – can be set with sensors NRT-Z43/44. 

"FULL"

 means

that the maximum bandwidth of the sensor, i.e. approx. 4 MHz, is used.

The bandwidth should be selected as narrow as possible, observing the limits specified for CW bursts in
Table 2-1. The narrow video bandwidth is required to free the rectified signal from the superimposed
modulation, so that only a slightly modulated squarewave pulse sequence is obtained. The highest
measurement accuracy is achieved with duty cycles above 10%. Duty cycles below 1% should be
avoided.

The video bandwidth set in this menu overwrites the settings made in the menus

Measurement with user-defined parameters (USER)

If an automatic measurement of the average burst power is not possible (power or duty cycle too small),
the burst parameters must be entered manually in the 

USER

 submenu.

After selecting the 

USER 

submenu the entry of first the burst width and then the burst period is re-

quested. The selected values must be confirmed with the 

SEL(LOCAL)

 key.
