Subsystem
The TRIGger subsystem synchronizes device actions and measurements with certain defined events.
Moreover the subsystem sends a cyclical record of the measurement results to an external device and
thus provides logging of a complete measurement sequence.

This node contains the commands for specific triggering of individual measurements.
:TRIGger[:TRIGger][:IMMediate]
This command triggers a measurement. The result must be queried with the command
:
SENS<n>:DATA?
. See chapter 3.5.2, Trigger and Measurement during Remote Control.

:TRIGger[:TRIGger]:SOURce INTernal | EXTernal
This command sets the trigger source for all the following measurements.
INTernal
The internal timer is used as a trigger source. As a result, the measurement is per-
formed in the freerun mode. This implies that the sensor carries out measurements
permanently but that they are not related to the test signal. The NRT provides the
last measured value upon a query command :SENSe<n>:DATA...
EXTernal
This mode allows to trigger measurements via the two remote control interfaces
(commands :TRIG and *TRG) or the AUX TTL connector at the rear panel of the de-
vice. The event which arrives first is used for triggering. The measurement is trig-
gered immediately after the trigger event arrives. The measured quantity may
change before triggering starts but should then remain unchanged until the end of
the measurement.
Note:
The trigger command :TRIG:SOUR EXT acts as if the AUX TTL connector was
switched to the EXT.TRIG state via the UTILity menu. The AUX TTL connector can
not be used as a monitoring connector if this setting is active.
