MEAS.POS (Definition of Reference Plane)
In the
CORRection - MEAS.POS
menu it can be defined whether measurements are to be made at the
source or load connection of the sensor.
CORRection - MEAS.POS:
In case of more stringent requirements on the measurement accuracy the reference plane must be
taken into account because the sensor absorbs part of the RF power and therefore causes the signals
leaving the sensor to be smaller than the input signals (insertion loss, see Fig. 2-7).
Depending on the power quantity, the measurement must be performed on either the source or the load
position. The selected reference plane is shown on the display by the
PORT
indicated.

As the actual measurement point (output connector of the transmitter or input connector of the antenna)
is often not directly accessible, the NRT also requests the entry of a cable loss
(OFFSET)
between the
sensor connection and the desired measurement point (see below).

With sensors of the NAP-Z type the same values are displayed in the two positions "SOURCE" and
"LOAD" because the NRT is unable to take into account the insertion loss with these sensors. As the
calibration of the sensors is referred to the load position, systematic deviations corresponding to the
transmission loss must be expected in the "SOURCE" position. For sensors NAP-Z6/-Z7/-Z8 these de-
viations are smaller than 0.05 dB in the whole specified frequency range and therefore negligible. For all
other sensors, deviations smaller than 0.1 dB (0.2 dB) can be expected in the following frequency
ranges.
NAP-Z3/-Z9/Z10
25 MHz to 350 (500) MHz
NAP-Z4
25 MHz to 500 (800) MHz
NAP-Z5/-Z11
25 MHz to 800 (1000) MHz
NAP-Z42
900 MHz to 1500 (2000) MHz
Cable losses are correctly taken into account for these sensors, too.
