5.2.3.2 RS232
Interface
Preparation:
½
Connect the RS232 interfaces of the NRT and the controller via modem bypass
cable.
½
Select on the NRT in the UTIL - REMOTE menu the serial RS232-interface, set
the transfer rate to 9600 baud and select XON / XOFF handshake mode.
½
Set the RS232 interface of the controller to 8 data bits, 1 start bit, 1 stop bit, no
parity bit, XON / XOFF handshake, and 9600 baud.
Test:
½
Send ‘*IDN?<CR><NL>’ from the controller to the NRT and read out the re-
sponse string of the NRT.
The response string should contain the following information:
‘ROHDE & SCHWARZ,NRT<Var>,<Ser_No>,<Firmware_Vers._No>’
5.2.4 Sensor
Interface
The interface is checked by means of a communication test between the NRT and the sensor con-
nected.
Preparation:
½
Switch on the NRT without sensor.
The warning ‘NO SENSOR RESPONSE’ should be displayed.
Test:
½
Connect Sensor NRT-Z44 to sensor port 1 (front panel).
The messages 'FOUND SENSOR<s> 1.' and 'INITIALIZING...' must be displayed
one after another. The applied power should then be displayed.
In case of fault, the error message 'SENS WARN' will be displayed.
5.2.5 AUX
Interface
The test is made with constant forward power by changing the conditions for the output of TTL high level
(within / out of bargraph indication range).
Preparation:

Connect a DC voltmeter to the AUX connector of the NRT in a test setup as
shown in 5.1.1 (sensor according to Table 5-1, Ref. No. 7 or Ref. No. 6)
½
Set the measurement mode with the AVG/ENV function key to AVG, the meas-
urement unit with the dBm /
∆
/ W key to W.
½
Set the range of the forward power indication bargraph to 0 to 3 W according to
Section 2.2.3.
½
Select in the UTIL - AUX/ IO - OUT - PWR submenu the parameter INBND.
½
Adjust the signal generator so that a forward power of 1 W is indicated on the
NRT.
Test:
TTL high level (>3V) should be output at the AUX output.
½
Select in the UTIL - AUX/ IO - OUT - PWR submenu the parameter OUTBND.
TTL low level (<0.8 V) should be output at the AUX output.
