1.4.7  Replacing the Battery

In mobile use it may be advisable to take along a charged spare battery to replace the flat one if re-
quired. The battery can be replaced without any tools from the rear of the instrument (see Fig. 1-3). To
remove the battery, press tightly together the plastic cap and withdraw it with the inserted battery. When
inserting the new battery, make sure that the marking TOP is pointing upwards. Otherwise it will not be
possible to insert the battery fully. The possibility of wrong polarity or short circuit during the battery in-
sertion has been excluded by appropriate design measures.

Spare batteries under the designation NRT-Z1 (Order No. 1081.1209.02) are available from Rohde &
Schwarz. The battery comes complete with the plastic cap used as a holder. Please note that batteries
ordered from the manufacturer FEDCO (type designation DR30AA) do not come with the
plastic cap. In this case the cap of the old battery has to be used (lift locking tabs to remove it). The cap
is not designed for frequent exchanging.
