5.2.13 Cylinder

Cylinder Removal

Remove chain tensioner (see CHAIN

TENSIONER).

Remove the camshaft timing gear (see

CAMSHAFT TIMING GEAR).

Remove cylinder head (see CYLINDER

HEAD).

Pull cylinder.

Discard cylinder base gaskets.

Cylinder Inspection

Check cylinder for cracks, scoring and

wear ridges on the top and bottom of the

cylinder. If any, replace cylinder.

Cylinder Taper

Measure cylinder bore. If it is out of

specification, replace cylinder and

piston rings. Measure cylinder bore at

3 recommended positions. (See picture
