c) Fit the outer cable in the sockets on the forward and rear cable brackets, and
then periodically cable tie along its length to bits of fuselage structure / bracing
wires so it
won’t rattle about.
d) To hold the cable end into its thimble on the rear cable bracket on the elevator
leading edge, cover the cable end and the thimble with a piece of heat shrink
tubing over each cable/thimble combination.
Take care not to melt the coverings! Direct the heat away from them,
and check they don’t get hot.

e) Melt a hole in the upper surface of the elevator fabric for the inner cable,
230mm forwards of the trailing edge and 130mm away from the tapered edge
of the elevator, both distances measured at 90

to the respective edge, Figure

A small tipped soldering iron is good for this job
– push it in at a slight angle
aiming for a hole about 4mm wide and just a little longer.
