Actuator disconnection with an intrinsically safe shutdown signal (safety barrier)
You can use an intrinsically safe shutdown signal to shut down one or more digital output
modules.
You do this by connecting the voltage of the safety barrier to terminals 4/8 (+) and 12/16 (-) of
the digital output module.
You can also shut down several digital output modules switched in parallel, depending on the
maximum output current at the safety barrier (see the following figure). Remember that current

max
= 8 mA per digital output module.
SHUT DOWN "H" output modules:
If no intrinsically safe shutdown signal is applied, the digital output module operates with its
normal functionality.
