l
Spare part with 24 ports
The MX210 of the earlier version has 24 activated ports by default. No POD license
application form is available. This spare part is used to replace the 24-port switch
module on the live network, but it will be phased out gradually.
l
Spare part with 20+4 ports
For this spare part, 20 ports are activated by default and a POD license application form
is attached. This form can be used to activate the other four ports. This spare part is used
to replace the 24-port switch module on the live network.
The application form is in an envelope delivered with the switch module. The POD license code is
in the 0533
xxxx
format and printed on the application form.
l
Spare part with 20 ports
The MX210 of the later version has 20 activated ports by default and is used to replace
the switch modules with 20 ports on the live network.
Procedure
Step 1
Identify the type of the switch module to be replaced and the spare part type of the switch
module.
l
If the switch module is not installed in the chassis:
Identify the type of the switch module based on the part number. The part number
consists of eight characters (digits or letters) and is in the 0305
xxxx
format. Take the
CX210 as an example. If its part number is 03056183, apply for a switch module with 24
or 20+4 ports. If its part number is 03056859, apply for a switch module with 20 ports.
If the spare part package contains the printed POD license application form, the spare part is a
switch module with 20+4 ports. If the spare part package does not contain the printed POD license
application form, the spare part is a switch module with 24 ports.
You can check the part number by using any of the following methods:
–
Check the label on the switch module packing case.
–
Check the delivery list.
–
Check the bar code (in the 210305
xxxxyyyyyyyy
format) on a switch module ejector
lever. 0305
xxxx
is the part number.
l
If the switch module is installed in the chassis:
Log in to the CLI to view port information. For details, see "Checking the FC Switching
Plane" in the
CXxxx Switch Module User Guide
.
–
If ports 5 to 8 are in the "(No POD License) Disabled" state, the switch module has
20+4 or 20 ports.
If the spare part package contains the printed POD license application form, the spare part is
a switch module with 20+4 ports. If the spare part package does not contain the printed POD
license application form, the spare part is a switch module with 20 ports.
–
If ports 5 to 8 are not in the "(No POD License) Disabled" state, the switch module
has 24 ports.
