6.3 Replacing a Switch Module
This section describes how to replace a switch module and its components.
6.3.1 Before You Start
This section describes the precautions, preparations, and process for replacing a switch
module.
Precautions
l Before the replacement, apply for service interruption of three hours. If you have special
requirements for the service interruption time, contact Huawei technical support
engineers.
l Switch modules of version 5.13 or later do not support remote port mirroring or remote
traffic mirroring (ERSPAN or RSPAN). Before the replacement, check whether these
functions are needed. If you need these functions, use local mirroring instead.
l
If the stack containing the switch module to be replaced has more than two switch
modules, upgrade the stacked switch modules that function properly to the latest version
before the replacement. For details, see the
E9000 Server V100R001 Upgrade Guide .
l If the switch module to be replaced is CX210, CX912, CX220, or CX916, check whether
the FC switching plane of the switch module to be replaced has a license before the
replacement. If the CLI of the FC switching plane can be logged in to, run the
licenseshow command to check whether a license exists. If the CLI of the FC switching
plane cannot be logged in to, contact Huawei technical support. For details about how to
log in to the CLI of the FC switching plane, see "Logging In to the FC Switching Plane"
in the CXxxx Switch Module User Guide.

If a Full Fabric license, ISL Trunking license, or Bundle-TRK, FV, EF, FF license
exists, transfer the license to the spare part. For details, see "Transferring Licenses"
in the
CXxxx Switch Module User Guide .

If a POD license exists and the switch module to be replaced is CX220 or CX916,
transfer the license to the spare part. For details, see "Transferring Licenses" in the
CXxxx Switch Module User Guide .
You do not need to transfer licenses for the CX220 or CX916 advanced model.
– If a POD license exists and the switch module to be replaced is CX210 or CX912,
transfer the license. For details, see
6.3.8 Importing and Transferring Licenses
(Only for the CX210 and CX912) .

If the switch module to be replaced is a 24-port CX210 or CX912 and the spare
switch module is a CX210 or CX912 with 20+4 ports, you need to apply for a POD
