Upgrade the HAD FPGA
The switcher menu will report out of date HADs. If rebooting or after startup, it will take
approximately five minutes for the menu to report the out of date HADs.
The HAD FPGA upgrade can be performed using serial console connection (recommended)
or a SSH session.
NOTE: The default username for an SSH connection is “user” and the default password is
“gvuser”.
Update the HAD FPGA Using a Serial Console
A serial console connection is recommended, although a SSH (Secure Shell) through SSH
terminal emulator can be launched from the K-Frame Installer.
NOTE: The default username for an SSH connection is “user” and the default password is

For SSH, skip to step 3 .
1 Open the Frame door and attach the serial console cable to the front edge of the
Controller board.
2 Verify and/or set the serial parameters to:
115200 baud
8 data
no parity
1stop
3 Optionally, start a SSH session through PuTTY from the K-Frame Installer (see the
Kayenne/Karrera/GV Korona Release Notes for launching the K-Frame Installer).
a Select System View (left) and select a Frame.
CAUTION: It is recommended that HAD (Host Address Decoder) FPGA
(Field Programmable Gate Array) updates are performed
by qualified personnel only, i.e. an EIC (Engineer In Charge).
