6. Choose Type From Text File from the File menu.
The dialog box below
appears.
7. Select the ASCII file you want to use.
8. Select Strip Linefeeds From Text if the other computer does not need
linefeeds after carriage returns. Most computers need linefeeds, so you
will normally not need to select this option.
9. Click on Type to send the DOS file.
Ensembleshows a status window to
show how your file transfer is going. When the file transfer is finished,
Ensemble returns to the Communication window.
10. To exit, choose Hang Up from the Dial menu; then press
EXIT
.
If you create a document in Word Processing and want to send it as an
ASCII text file, you must export the document. See Importing and
Getting" in Getting Started on page 59. When you export, select ASCII.
Sending text files using XMODEM
With the XMODEM protocol you can send files or a large amount of
information to another computer or word processor. The advantage of
using XMODEM is that XMODEM detects a transmission failure and
resends the information again.
"
To send a file using XMODEM:
1. Insert Diskette 2.
2. Click on the File Manager icon on the Main Menu.
3. Double-click on Communications.
4. If you have not connected to the other computer, see Getting Ready to
Communicate" on page 336.
5. Insert the diskette with the file you want to send.
Before you can use XMODEM to
transfer files, check that the other
computer is set up to receive an
XMODEM transfer
. Do this by
calling before you start your
connection, or, once you are
connected, by sending a
message to the other computer
indicating that you want to use
XMODEM. Ask the receiver to
select XMODEM from the File
Menu.
Also, to send a file the other
person must have enough disk
space.
