Ink–Jet Cartridge
Ink–jet Cartridge Precautions
WARNING:
Keep new and used cartridges out of reach of children. Avoid contact
between cartridge and face, eyes, skin, and clothing.
Follow these precautions for maximum life of your ink-jet cartridges:
S
To prevent a cartridge from drying out, never open the sealed pack
until you are ready to install the cartridge.
S
Install the cartridge immediately after you remove the tape from it. If
you set the cartridge aside for an extended period of time, the
cartridge head may dry out. For models PDP-300CJ and PDP-350CJ,
store the used ink cartridge in the storage box provided.
S
The bottom of the cartridge is covered with wet ink. Never touch the
bottom of the cartridge, and never let it touch any other surface.
S
To prevent leakage, do not shake the cartridge after it has been
removed from its pack.
S
Do not expose cartridges to direct sunlight. Store them at a
temperature lower than 40
_
C (104
_
F).
S
We recommend that you use cartridges within one year of installation
to assure high print quality.
S
To transport Ensemble by air, take out the ink cartridge and install a
new one at your destination.
Installing or Replacing an Ink–jet Cartridge
"
To install or replace an ink–jet cartridge:
1. Open the paper support.
2. Open the top cover by pushingin firmly on the two slots on the sides.
3. Press the
INK CHG
key.
The cartridge moves to its ink change position on
thefarleftofthecarriage.
Ensemble color models will print
much faster with the black ink–jet
cartridge rather than the color
cartridge. Therefore, you will want
to use black for all your printing
except when you want color
.
Ensemble can detect whether you
are using black or color ink; you
do not need to change any
settings when you change
cartridges.
Ensemble uses a replaceable
ink–jet cartridge that contains
both the print head and ink. This
cartridge will need to be replaced
after approximately 1,000,000
characters (estimated using
normal text in 12 point UR
W
Roman font).
CAUTION:
Do not take out the ink–jet
cartridge unless it has
been moved to the left
side by the INK CHG key.
To do so may cause ink to
leak from the cartridge.
You have 5 minutes to
install or change the
ink–jet cartridge before the
bracket automatically
returns to the right hand
position. In this case,
return to step 3.
