11.23 IPQoS Overview
Quality of Service (QoS) refers to both a network’s ability to deliver data with minimum delay, and
the networking methods used to control the use of bandwidth. Without QoS, all traffic data is
equally likely to be dropped when the network is congested. This can cause a reduction in network
performance and make the network inadequate for delay-sensitive applications such as VoIP or
video-on-demand (VOD).
Configure IPQoS to group and prioritize downstream application traffic in queues and fine-tune
network performance.
• IPQoS applies only to the downstream traffic (traffic going to the subscribers).
Min Retrantime
Set the minimum duration between any two packets after registration.
Max Retrantime
Set the maximum duration between any two packets after registration.
Retran Window
Set the total retransmit timer.
RFC2833 Select
on
to enable RFC 2833 for transmitting digits. When you enable RFC 2833 the
system transmits DTMF signals as voice (in-band) or as separate RFC 2833 packets (out-
of-band) according to the MGC's configuration.
When you enable RFC 2833, set the RTP payload (96~127) type for identifying RFC
2833 packets.
Select
no
to not use RFC 2833 for transmitting DTMF signals. DTMF signals can only be
transmitted inband.
T38 Select
on
to enable support for the T.38 fax relay standard.
When you enable T.38 the system uses T.30 to transmit faxes as voice (in-band) or T.38
to transmit faxes as separate packets (out-of-band) according to the MGC's
configuration.
Select
off
to disable support for the T.38 fax relay standard. The system uses T.30 to
transmit faxes as voice (in-band).
Force Version
You can set this to
on
if the MGC only supports H.248 version 1. Set it to
off
to use
H.248 version 2.
Apply
Click
Apply
to save the changes in this screen to the system’s volatile memory. The
system loses these changes if it is turned off or loses power, so use the
Config Save
link
on the navigation panel and then the
Save
button to save your changes to the non-
volatile memory when you are done configuring.
New
While you are modifying a profile, you can click
New
to start configuring a fresh profile
without saving your changes.
Cancel
Click
Cancel
to start configuring the screen again.
Index
This is an incremental number indicating the order in which the H.248 profiles were
created.
Name
This is the name of the H.248 profile.
Select
Select the H.248 profile you wish to load or delete.
Modify
Select a H.248 profile and click this in order to edit its configuration.
Delete
Select a H.248 profile and click this to delete the profile. Once deleted, information
cannot be retrieved.
