Lower unit leakage check
1. Check:
9 Pressure
Pressure drops

Inspect the oil seals
and components.
Checking steps:

Connect the leakage tester to the oil
level checking hole.
Leakage tester:

Replacement steps:

Hold the outboard motor in an up-
right position.

Place a container under the drain plug

Remove the drain plug, the oil level
plug

, and then drain the gear oil.

Place the outboard in an upright posi-
tion.

Add gear oil through the drain hole

until it overflows at the oil level
checking hole

Install the oil level plug

then the drain plug

Recommended gear oil:
GEAR CASE LUB (USA) or
Hypoid gear oil, SAE #90

Slag oil
